Visa Requirements for Travelers
To apply for a Malaysia Visa, applicants must provide the following documents:
- Passport Requirements
- Passport must be valid for at least seven (7) months from the expected date of arrival in Malaysia.
- Photograph
- Recent passport-size photo with a white background.
- Passport Copy
- A clear scanned copy of the passport bio-data page.
- Previous Travel History
- Details of previous international travel, if applicable.
- Return Flight Ticket
- A confirmed return ticket (Maximum stay: 30 days in Malaysia).
- Hotel Booking Confirmation
- Proof of accommodation booking for the stay in Malaysia.
- Financial Proof
- Latest 3-month bank statement & a balance confirmation letter.
- First-time travelers must have a minimum bank balance of $500, verified with a bank confirmation letter.
- Visa Request Letter
- A typed and signed letter from the applicant requesting the visa.
- Employment or Business Documentation
- Employment Letter from the employer OR
- Business Registration Document (Sinhala & English Translation) for business owners.
- Marriage Certificate (If applicable)
- Must be translated into Sinhala and English.
- For Applicants Below 12 Years Old
- Birth Certificate (Sinhala & English Translation) is mandatory.
Processing Time
- Standard Processing: 2 working days.
- If additional documents are requested by the visa officer, processing may be delayed by 2 more days.
- Applicants must submit any requested documents within 5 days; failure to do so may result in visa rejection.
Important Notes
- Visa fees are non-refundable, even if the application is rejected.
- eVISA applications must be submitted from outside Malaysia (except for applicants from Israel & North Korea, who are not eligible).
- If you are from a non-eVISA eligible country, you must apply at the nearest Malaysian High Commission, Embassy, Consulate General, or Malaysia Visa Center.
